Colchester Cycling Charter

We’re excited to see the launch of the Colchester Cycling Charter!

Individuals and organisations can sign the charter to pledge their support for cycling as a way to ensure Colchester is a vibrant place to work, study, thrive and do business. We all know Colchester is a great place to live, and hopefully together we can show our support for making it even better.

Bike Week

Our friends at Cycling UK are back with their annual celebration of cycling from 8th-16th June. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate the social, health and environmental benefits of cycling! Throughout the week, Cycling UK are aiming to get more people cycling, whether it’s just nipping to the shops or going for an afternoon exploring your local lanes.

Colchester’s first women’s road race

The VCR Boudica Women’s Road Race takes place on Sunday 9th June from 1:30pm, taking in a 58 mile circuit south of Colchester. The race is open to 2nd 3rd and 4th category women racers, and they would love to see a full field on the start line.

The circuit around Abberton Reservoir is a short ride south of town, just of the National Cycle Route 1, so it will make for a lovely afternoon out to cheer the riders on!

Find a full map of the course and more details about the race on the VCR website

30:30 Challenge

Are you ready to join the 30:30 Essex challenge? Do 30 minutes of exercise for each of the 30 days in June to complete the challenge. It doesn’t have to be all at once either; 10 minutes cycling to school or work, getting off the bus a stop earlier, or just heading out for a 15 minute walk at lunchtime – it all adds up!

We all need to keep active to stay healthy, and 30:30 is a great way to keep up the habit.
