Bikes on trains
The way you take bikes on trains in our region has changed. From January 1st Greater Anglia are enforcing rules requiring all bikes on intercity services to be booked on 24 hours in advance, with a maximum six bikes per train in order to prepare for the new trains coming into service soon. Read about the full restrictions on the Greater Anglia Website. Have you been affected by this or had issues? Let us know.

Re~Cycle/Halfords trade-in event
Local charity Re~Cycle, Bikes To Africa are teaming up again with Halfords to offer a 20% discount off any new helmet, scooter or bike purchased at their local Halfords store between 5th March and 3rd April. You can even mix and match, so you can get 20% off a brand new electric bike by handing in an old helmet, unloved bike or outgrown scooter! You can find out more about what Re~Cycle do on their website, and find directions to Halfords Colchester here. Re~Cycle are also accepting donations of bikes directly at their warehouse in Wormingford.

Clean Air Heroes
Are you a clean air hero? Ditch the car and you could become one. A brand-new activity is being offered to Essex schools aiming to reduce pollution around the school gates, and it has a twist: it involves rhinos. It’s simple too; each school in Essex works towards achieving Bronze, Silver or Gold targets representing an amount that Colchester Zoo will donate to Save the Rhino conservation project. The more pupils walk, scoot and cycle to school, the better the target achieved and the higher the contribution the Zoo will donate on the school’s behalf.

Schools can register here or, to receive more information about the Clean Air Heroes activity follow this link.
